Mark 6

¹ Jesus left and went back to his home town. His followers came with him.

⁷ He called the twelve. He began sending them out two by two. He gave them power over evil spirits.

¹⁴ King Herod heard about Jesus. Everyone was talking! Some said, "John the Baptizer came back from the dead! That's why he has this power!"

¹⁷ Herod had sent men to grab John. He had John chained and thrown in prison. Why? Because of Herodias. She was his brother Philip's wife, but Herod took her for himself.

¹⁸ John had said to Herod, "It's wrong for you to have your brother's wife."
