Luke 20

Then Jesus told the people this story. "A man planted grapes. He rented the field to some farmers and went far away for a long time."

"When it was time to pick the grapes, he sent a servant to get his share. But the farmers beat the servant and sent him back with nothing."

"Then the owner thought, 'What can I do? I will send my own dear son. They will respect him.'"

So they watched him closely. They sent spies who acted like they wanted to learn. Their plan was to catch Jesus saying something wrong so they could hand him over to the Roman ruler.

Jesus saw through their trick. "Why are you trying to trap me?" he said.
