John 19

¹ Pilate grabbed Jesus and had his men whip him.

² The soldiers twisted sharp thorns together into a crown. They jammed it down hard onto his head. They threw a purple robe over his shoulders.

⁴ Pilate came back outside. "Listen to me! I am bringing him out here so you can see. I do not find anything wrong with him."

⁷ They screamed louder. "We have a law! Our law says he has to die! He said he is the Son of God!"

¹⁶ Pilate handed Jesus over. They grabbed him and dragged him away to be nailed to a cross.
