John 20

¹ On the first day of the new week, the sky was still dark. Mary Magdalene ran to the tomb. When she got there, she saw the stone. Someone rolled it away from the opening!

² She turned and ran as fast as she could to Simon Peter and the other friend, the one Jesus loved. She cried out, "They took the Lord out of the tomb! We do not know where they put him!"

³ Peter and the other friend took off running toward the tomb.

⁶ Then Simon Peter came running up behind him, breathing hard. Peter did not stop. He went straight into the tomb. He saw the cloth strips lying there.

¹¹ Mary stood outside the tomb. Tears poured down her face. She bent down and looked inside.
