Exodus 15

Then Moses and all Israel sang a song to Yahweh. They sang, "I will sing to Yahweh! He won a great win! He threw horse and rider into the sea!"

Moses led Israel away from the Red Sea. They walked into the wild desert of Shur. For three long days they walked through that empty place. They found no water anywhere.

They came to a place called Marah. But the water there tasted so bad they could not drink it! That is why they named it Marah. It means bitter.

The people turned on Moses. They cried out, "What will we drink out here?"

Moses cried out to Yahweh for help. Yahweh showed him a tree. Moses grabbed the tree and threw it into the water. Right then, the bad water turned sweet. Right there, Yahweh gave them a rule and a way to live. Right there, he tested them.
