2 Samuel 12

¹ Yahweh sent the prophet Nathan to David. Nathan came in and told him a story. "Two men lived in a city. One was rich. One was poor."

⁷ Nathan stared David right in the eyes and said, "You are the man!" Then he said, "This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: I made you king over Israel! I saved you from Saul!"

¹³ David said to Nathan, "I sinned against Yahweh." Nathan said back, "Yahweh has wiped away your sin. You will not die."

¹⁵ Nathan left. Yahweh struck the baby that Uriah's wife had with David. The child got so sick.

¹⁹ David saw them whispering. He understood. He asked, "The child is dead?" They answered, "Yes. Dead."
