2 Samuel 13

1 Time passed. David's son Absalom had a sister named Tamar. She was beautiful. David's other son Amnon fell hard for her.

10 Amnon said to Tamar, "Bring the food into my bedroom. I want to eat it from your hands." Tamar picked up the cakes and carried them into the room where he was lying.

19 Tamar grabbed ashes off the ground. She poured them over her head. She ripped the robe she was wearing. She covered her face with her hands and walked away crying out loud.

23 Two whole years passed. Absalom had workers shearing wool from his sheep at Baal Hazor, near Ephraim. He invited all the king's sons to come.

28 Absalom gave orders to his men. He said, "Watch Amnon close. Wait until he gets drunk and his guard drops. I will give the signal. Then strike him down dead! Do not be scared. I am the one telling you to do it. Be strong. Be brave."
