1 Samuel 4
1 Samuel's words traveled to every corner of Israel. Then Israel marched out to fight the Philistines. Israel camped at Ebenezer. The Philistines set up camp at Aphek.
3 The men who made it back to camp shook with fear. The leaders of Israel said, "Why did Yahweh let the Philistines crush us today? Let us bring the Ark of the Covenant here from Shiloh! It will march with us and save us from our enemies!"
4 They sent men running to Shiloh. The men came back carrying the Ark of the Covenant. Yahweh of Armies sits on his throne above the angels! Eli's two sons walked with the Ark. Hophni and Phinehas.
10 The Philistines fought with everything they had. Israel's army fell apart. Every man ran for home. The killing was terrible. Thirty thousand men from Israel died.
11 The enemy grabbed the Ark of God! Hophni and Phinehas, Eli's two sons, died in the dirt.
