1 Samuel 18

¹ David stopped talking to Saul. Right then something locked into place in Jonathan's chest. His heart tied itself to David's heart. The knot pulled tight! Jonathan loved David as much as he loved himself!

⁶ The army came home after David killed the giant. Women ran out of every town in Israel! They came to meet King Saul! They sang! They danced! They hit tambourines! They shouted! Music poured out everywhere!

¹⁰ The next day a bad spirit from God smashed down on Saul! He shook. He raved inside his house like a crazy man! David sat near him playing soft music like always. Saul held a spear in his hand.

¹³ Saul sent David away. He put him in charge of a thousand men. David led them to battle. He led them home. Everyone watched him leave. Everyone watched him come back.

²⁸ Saul saw it happen. The truth crashed into him! Yahweh stood with David. And Michal, his own daughter, loved David!
