1 Samuel 17

¹ The Philistines called up their army for war. They camped at Socoh in the land of Judah. They stayed at Ephes Dammim, between Socoh and Azekah.

³² David stood in front of Saul. His eyes blazed! "Do not let anyone lose hope over this giant! I will go fight him!"

⁴⁹ His hand dug into his bag. He grabbed one stone. He swung the sling over his head. Faster. Faster. He let go! The stone flew! It smashed into the giant's head and went straight through his skull! His eyes went blank. He dropped face-first into the dirt!

⁵¹ David ran up to the body. He stood over it. He ripped the giant's own sword from its holder. He lifted it high and chopped the giant's head off! The Philistines saw their hero dead. They screamed. They turned and ran!

⁵² The men of Israel and Judah roared. They charged! They chased the Philistines all the way to Gath! All the way to Ekron's front gates! Dead Philistines covered the road from Gath to Ekron!
