1 Kings 2
1 Time went by. David's body grew weak. He could feel death getting close. He called for Solomon. He had last words to say.
10 Then David closed his eyes. He stopped breathing. They buried him in the city of David. They laid him with his fathers.
13 Then one day Adonijah came to see Bathsheba. She was Solomon's mother. She looked at him. Her eyes were sharp. "Are you coming in peace?" He nodded. "Yes. Peace."
28 News reached Joab. He had backed Adonijah! He had stayed loyal when Absalom turned, but not this time! Fear shot through him! He ran to the tent of Yahweh! He grabbed the horns of the altar and would not let go!
29 Someone told King Solomon. "Joab ran to the tent of Yahweh! He is holding onto the altar!" Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada with orders. "Go! Cut him down!"
