1 Kings 19

¹ Ahab told Jezebel everything. Every single thing Elijah did. How he killed all the prophets with a sword.

⁵ He lay down under the bush. He fell asleep. Suddenly an angel touched him. "Get up! Eat!"

⁹ He found a cave. He crawled inside to sleep. Then Yahweh's voice came to him. "Elijah, what are you doing here?"

¹¹ "Go out," Yahweh said. "Stand on the mountain where I can see you." Yahweh passed by. A wild wind tore the mountain apart. It broke rocks into tiny pieces. But Yahweh was not in the wind. After the wind came an earthquake that shook the ground. But Yahweh was not in the earthquake.

¹⁴ Elijah shouted back. "I have fought with everything I have for you, Yahweh, God of all the armies in heaven! But Israel walked away from you. They broke your altars into dust. They killed your prophets with their own hands. I am the only one left breathing! And now they are hunting me down to kill me!"
