1 Corinthians 14

¹ Run hard after love! And yes, ask God for gifts from His Spirit. But more than anything, ask to speak for God in words people can actually get.

⁶ Brothers and sisters, think about it. What if I showed up and just started speaking in a language nobody here knows? How would that help you at all? Not one bit. Unless I also give you something you can grab onto. Something God just showed me. Something I learned. A message straight from God. Something I can teach you.

²⁰ Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like little kids. When it comes to doing bad things, yes, be like babies who do not even know what bad is. But when you think, grow up.

²⁶ So what should happen, brothers and sisters? When you all get together, one person brings a song. Another brings something to teach. Another brings something God just showed them. Another brings a language nobody knows. Another brings the meaning of that language. Everything you do should build each other up!

³⁴ In the churches, the wives need to stay quiet. They are not allowed to talk. They need to follow their husbands, just like the law says.
