Joseph Saves His Brothers

Ten brothers walk into Egypt and find the man who sells the grain. They drop to the floor and press their faces to the ground. They do not know it is Joseph. He looks different now. He dresses like a rich man of Egypt. He speaks with a voice they do not know. They beg him for food.

Joseph knows them right away. His heart pounds. But he hides it behind a cold face and speaks in a rough voice. "Where do you come from?" They say they came from Canaan to buy food. Joseph calls them spies. He pushes them hard. He wants to see who these brothers have become.

Joseph throws them all into prison for three days. Then he lets them out. "Prove you are telling the truth. Bring me your youngest brother." He keeps Simeon and ties him up right in front of them. The rest take their grain and go. They watch guards drag Simeon away.
