Jesus Teaches II
But it was the Sabbath — the day of rest. The man walked through the streets carrying his mat on his back. Religious leaders spotted him. "Stop! You cannot carry that today! That is work!" The man shook his head. "The man who healed me told me to pick it up and walk."
Later that day, Jesus found the man standing in the Temple. He walked up to him and looked at him with serious eyes. "You are well now. Stop sinning, or something worse may come." The man listened. He nodded slowly. Then he turned and walked away.
The man went straight to the religious leaders. "It was Jesus! He is the one who healed me!" The leaders looked at each other. Now they had a name. Now they had a target. They went out looking for Jesus, and they were not looking to say thank you.
