Romans 4

¹ Let us think about Abraham, our father by blood. What did he find by his own hard work?

⁹ Is this blessing only for the cut? Or also for the uncut? We keep saying this: God counted Abraham's trust and called him His own.

¹³ God made a promise to Abraham and his children after him. He said they would get the whole world! This promise did not come through Jewish rules. It came because God counted Abraham in when Abraham trusted Him.

¹⁸ When there was no reason left to hope, Abraham hoped anyway and trusted! He became the father of many people, just like God said, "Your family will grow this big."

²³ These words were not written only for Abraham.
