Numbers 11

The people started to grumble. Yahweh heard every word. His anger burned hot! Fire shot out from Yahweh! It swept through the edges of the camp and ate up everything around the outside.

After that, some outsiders with them grew wild with hunger. Soon the whole camp of Israel cried again. They moaned, "We want meat! Who will give us meat to eat?"

Right then, a wind from Yahweh blew in hard! It swept birds called quail from the sea! The birds fell all around the camp. They landed a whole day's walk away in every direction! They piled up as high as a man's waist on the ground!

But even while the meat was still in their mouths, before they could swallow a single bite, Yahweh's anger burst out against them! He struck the people with a terrible sickness!

They called that place Kibroth Hattaavah. It means "Graves of Craving." That is where they buried the people who let their hunger take over.
