Mark 12

1 Jesus started teaching them with stories. "A man planted a grape field. He built a wall around it. He dug a pit to press the grapes. He put up a tower to watch over it. Then he rented the land to some farmers and went far away."

2 "When the grapes hung fat on the vines, he sent a servant. 'Go get my share from those farmers.'"

6 "One person left. His own son. The one he loved more than his own life. He sent him last. 'Surely they will respect my boy.'"

13 Later they sent Pharisees. Friends of Herod too. Their job was to trap Jesus with his own words.

15 "Pay or don't pay?" Jesus stared at them. He saw right through their skin. "Why are you testing me? Bring me a coin."
