John 13

¹ The night before Passover came. Jesus knew his hour was here. He was leaving this world to go to the Father. He loved his own people in this world. Now he showed them how much.

⁶ He came to Simon Peter. Peter stared and said, "Lord! Are you going to wash my feet?"

¹² After he washed their feet, he put his coat back on and sat down. He asked them, "Do you get what I just did?"

²¹ After Jesus said this, pain twisted inside him. He spoke out loud, "I am telling you the truth. One of you will hand me over."

²³ One disciple was there. The one Jesus loved. He was sitting right next to Jesus at the table.
