Genesis 37

¹ Jacob stayed in Canaan. The same ground where Isaac lived. Like a man just passing through.

² This is what happened to Jacob's family. Joseph was seventeen. He worked the fields with his older brothers. The sons of Bilhah and Zilpah. They saw him as just a kid. Joseph ran back home and told his father the bad things they did.

³ Israel loved Joseph more than all the rest. Why? Joseph was born when Israel was old. Israel made him a gift. A long robe painted with bright colors.

⁴ The brothers saw it every single day. They saw their father's eyes light up when Joseph walked past. Hate took root. It grew thick and black. They could not speak one kind word to him.

⁵ Joseph had a dream one night. He told his brothers about it the next morning. Their hate burned hotter.
