Exodus 34

¹ Yahweh told Moses, "Cut two stone tablets just like the first ones. I will write on them the same words that were on the tablets you smashed."

¹⁵ "Do not make any deal with the people of that land. They run after their gods like a lover runs to another. They give gifts to their gods. And then they will ask you to come eat the food they gave."

²⁹ Moses walked down from Mount Sinai. He gripped the two covenant tablets in both hands. His face was bright. Glowing! He had been talking face to face with Yahweh. But Moses did not know his own skin was shining.

³⁰ Aaron and all Israel saw him coming down. His face blazed like fire! Fear hit them hard. They jumped back. No one dared come close!

³³ When Moses finished speaking, he took a cloth and covered his face.
