1 Samuel 30

¹ On the third day David and his men got back to Ziklag. The Amalekites had hit the south! They had hit Ziklag and burned it down!

⁶ David's heart was breaking. His own men turned on him! They wanted to throw rocks at his head until he died. Every man was bitter and angry about his sons and daughters. But David grabbed hold of Yahweh his God. He pulled his strength from him.

⁸ David asked Yahweh, "Should I go after them? Will I catch them?" Yahweh said back, "Go! You will catch them. You will get everyone back."

¹¹ Out in a field, they found an Egyptian man lying in the dirt. They dragged him to David. They pushed bread and water into his hands.

¹⁷ David hit them at evening when the light was dying. He fought until the next evening! Not one got away except four hundred young men. They jumped on camels and ran for their lives!
