1 Samuel 25

¹ Samuel died. All Israel came together. They cried for him. They buried him at his home in Ramah. David went down into the desert of Paran.

¹⁰ Nabal answered, "Who is David? Who is this son of Jesse? There are plenty of servants running away from their masters these days."

¹⁴ One of the men who worked for Nabal ran to Abigail. His face was red. "David sent his men from the wild land to ask about our boss! Nabal screamed at them and made them feel small!"

¹⁸ Abigail did not wait! She grabbed two hundred loaves of bread, two big skins of wine, five cooked sheep, five baskets of hot grain, one hundred piles of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs. She loaded it all onto donkeys.
