1 Samuel 22

¹ David got away from Gath. He hid in the cave at Adullam. His brothers heard where he was. His whole family came down.

⁵ The prophet Gad came to David. "Do not stay here. Go back to Judah." So David left and went to the forest of Hereth.

⁹ Doeg the Edomite spoke up. He stood there with the other officers. "I saw Jesse's son at Nob. He went to see Ahimelech the priest."

¹⁷ Saul turned to his guards. "Kill these priests of Yahweh! They helped David run. They knew he was running from me and said nothing!" But the guards did not move. They would not kill the priests of Yahweh.

¹⁸ Saul turned to Doeg. "You do it." Doeg pulled his sword. He cut them down. Eighty-five men who wore the holy robe. All of them dead.
