Walls Rebuilt I
Years passed under foreign rulers. In meeting houses, people read Moses and the Prophets out loud. Parents told the old stories to their children at night. Some people grew bitter. Some followed every tiny rule. Many just tried to get through each day under heavy taxes and watching soldiers. Hope...
Foreign rulers pressed down hard on everyday life. Tax collectors knocked on every door. Soldiers marched through the streets. Local leaders bowed to bigger powers far away. People talked about Yahweh's kingdom while they lived under kingdoms that did not know Yahweh at all.
Far away, a young king named Alexander was winning battle after battle. His army pushed east across the world. No one could stop him. Borders fell. Cities opened their gates. New rulers were coming, and the whole world was about to change.
