Sermon on the Mount I

Evening came and Jesus climbed a mountain alone. He stayed all night. Stars filled the sky above Him. The air turned cold against His skin. He prayed. He talked to God. He did not stop until morning light broke across the hills.

Morning came. Jesus called His followers up the mountain. Out of all of them, He picked twelve men. Twelve. Just like Israel had twelve sons, Jesus now had twelve disciples. He gave them a job that would change the world: carry God's love to everyone.

Jesus walked down the mountain with His twelve new disciples. A huge crowd waited below, spread across the flat ground like a sea of faces. Sick people reached out their hands. Jesus moved through them, touching and healing one after another after another. Every single one.
