Murder

Outside the garden, the ground fought back. Every day was harder now. But then Eve felt something move inside her. A baby! She held her belly and waited. The day came, and she gave birth to a son. She named him Cain and cried out, "With Yahweh's help, I have brought a man into the world!"

Eve had another son. Abel. The two brothers grew up side by side but chose different lives. Abel walked the hills with his sheep every day, watching over them. Cain dug in the dirt, planted seeds, pulled food from the ground. Two brothers. Two paths.

Both brothers brought gifts to Yahweh. Cain held out some of his crops. Just some. Abel brought the best lambs from his flock. The fattest ones. Yahweh was pleased with Abel's gift. But not with Cain's. Why Abel and not him? Anger burned hot in Cain's chest. His face went dark.
