Life, Death, and Lazarus

Another story. A rich man had a manager who ran his business. But the manager wasted his master's money. Word got back to the rich man. He called the manager in and stared him down. "What is this I hear about you? You are done. You cannot work for me anymore."

The manager stumbled out the door. His mind raced. What now? He was not strong enough to dig ditches. He was too proud to beg on the streets. He needed a plan. He needed people who would take him in when he had nothing left.

Then an idea hit him. He called in everyone who owed his master money. One by one, they came. "How much do you owe?" He took their bills, crossed out the numbers, and wrote in lower ones. If he helped them now, maybe they would help him later.
