3 John
The elder writes to his dear friend Gaius. He prays that Gaius is well in body and in soul. Good news has come in from the road. Gaius walks in the truth. Nothing makes the elder's heart sing louder than hearing his children follow what is true.
Gaius opens his door wide to believers who travel through. Even strangers. They come back to the church and tell everyone about his kindness. These workers go out for the name of Jesus. They take nothing from people who do not believe. So when we help them, we stand side by side with the truth.
A man named Diotrephes loves to be in charge. He will not listen to the elder. He tells lies about good people. He turns away traveling believers at the door. He even throws out church members who try to help them. Do not copy what is bad. Copy what is good. The one who does good belongs to God.
