2 John

An elder picks up his pen. He writes to a woman and her children. He loves them. So does everyone who knows the truth. The truth lives in us. It will stay with us forever. Grace, mercy, and peace flow down from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, his Son.

Good news reaches the elder. Some of her children walk in the truth. His heart fills with joy. He gives no new rule. It is the same one they heard from the very start: love each other. And love means doing what God says. This is the road God laid out for us long ago.

Many liars have gone out into the world. They will not say that Jesus came in a real body. Be careful. Do not lose what you worked so hard for. Anyone who runs ahead and leaves the teaching of Jesus does not have God. Stay with the teaching. Then you have both the Father and the Son.
