Matthew 6

¹ "Be careful!" Jesus said. "Do not do good things just so people will see you. If you want their clapping, you throw away your gift from your Father in heaven."

⁵ "When you pray, do not act like the fake people. They love to stand up and pray in the meeting places and on the street corners where everyone can see them. I am telling you the truth. That praise is the only gift they will get."

⁷ "When you pray, do not say the same words over and over like people who do not know God. They think if they say enough words, God will finally hear them."

⁹ "Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be treated as holy."

¹⁶ "When you go without food, do not look sad like the fake people. They make their faces look tired so everyone will see they are fasting. I am telling you the truth. That attention is the only gift they will get."
