Matthew 23
1 Jesus spoke to the crowds. He spoke to his disciples too.
2 "The scribes sit in Moses' seat. The Pharisees sit there too."
4 "They pile up heavy loads. They drop them on people's backs. But they will not lift one finger to help carry the weight!"
27 "Bad things are coming for you, scribes and Pharisees! You fakes! You paint graves white to make them look pretty. They shine in the sun. But open them up. Rotting bones. Dead bodies. Filth."
34 "I am sending you prophets, wise men, and teachers. You will nail some of them to crosses and kill them. You will beat some of them in your meeting places. You will chase them from town to town."
