Isaiah 53
He grew up like a tiny plant in dry, hard dirt. Like a root in dead ground. Nothing about him made you stop and stare. We looked at him and felt nothing.
But he carried our pain! He picked up our hurt and put it on his shoulders! We thought God was beating him down. We thought God was crushing him.
They hurt him. They beat him. His mouth stayed shut. Like a lamb going to the knife. Like a sheep quiet while they cut off its wool. He never opened his mouth.
But Yahweh's plan crushed him. It filled him with pain. His life paid for sin. Now he will see his children! His days will go on and on. What Yahweh wants will win because of him.
After all that suffering, he will see it and be satisfied. My good servant will make many people right with God because they know him. He will carry their guilt on his back.
