Genesis 30

²⁴ She named him Joseph. Then she prayed hard. "Yahweh, give me one more son."

²⁵ Joseph was born. Jacob walked straight to Laban. "Let me go. I need to go back to my own dirt. Back to my home."

³⁵ But that same day, Laban did something sneaky. He grabbed all the goats with stripes and spots. He grabbed all the ones with any white on them. He took all the dark sheep. Every single one. He gave them to his sons.

³⁷ Jacob cut branches from the trees. He peeled strips of bark off. White streaks showed on the wood underneath.

⁴³ Jacob's animals grew into huge groups. He got rich. Very, very rich. He bought helpers to work for him. He bought camels. He bought donkeys.
