Genesis 11

¹ Back then, everyone spoke the same words. One set of sounds. One way of talking.

⁴ They said, "We will build a city! A tower that touches the sky! Then everyone will know our name. We will stay right here. We will not spread out."

⁵ Yahweh came down to see it. The city. The tower going up and up.

⁷ Yahweh said, "We go down. We mix up their words. No one will understand anyone else."

⁸ So Yahweh scattered them. He sent them across the whole earth. The city never got finished.
