2 Kings 9

¹ Elisha the prophet called one of the young prophets over. "Get ready fast. Tuck your robe in tight. Take this bottle of oil and run to Ramoth-Gilead."

¹¹ Jehu came back out. The other leaders stared at him. One asked, "What was that about? Why did that crazy man come for you?" Jehu shrugged. "You know how those guys talk."

¹⁶ Jehu jumped into his chariot and rode hard for Jezreel. Joram was there, resting. Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to visit him.

²² When Joram saw Jehu coming, he called out, "Jehu! Do you come in peace?" Jehu yelled back, "Peace? How can there be peace while your mother Jezebel keeps sleeping with idols and doing her dark magic?"

³⁰ Jehu rode into Jezreel. Jezebel heard he was coming. She painted dark makeup around her eyes. She fixed her hair nice. She went to the window and looked down, waiting.
