1 Samuel 11

¹ Not long after, Nahash the Ammonite marched his army up and camped around Jabesh Gilead. The men of Jabesh said, "Make peace with us and we will serve you."

⁴ Runners went to Gibeah and told the people what was happening. When the town heard, they broke down crying.

⁹ They sent word back to Jabesh. "By noon tomorrow, you will be free!" When the people of Jabesh heard this, joy filled their hearts!

¹² The people turned to Samuel. "Some men laughed at Saul. They said he was not strong enough to rule. Where are they? Bring them here now! We will kill them!"
