Temple Rebuilt

Persia now ruled where Babylon once stood. King Cyrus said the Jews could go home and rebuild Jerusalem! Families gathered to decide who would make the long trip. Neighbors brought silver, animals, and supplies. Men read the king's order out loud in the streets. The great return was beginning.

Leaders stepped forward to take charge. Zerubbabel would lead the families on the road. Jeshua gathered the Priests so worship could start as soon as they arrived. Men counted every Temple cup and bowl. They made lists of every family going. Slowly, the great line of travelers began to form.

Families gathered outside Babylon with everything they owned. They loaded carts with tools, pots, and the precious Temple things. Children sat beside their parents and listened to the old ones tell stories about Zion. The trip would be long and full of danger. Each night they made camp. Each...
