Pharaoh's Heart Hardens

The darkness lifts. Pharaoh calls Moses one last time. "Fine. Go worship your God. But leave your animals here." Moses says no. "We need every one." Pharaoh's face goes red. His hands shake. "Get out of my sight. If I see your face again, you die."

Moses gives Pharaoh one last warning. His voice is steady. Cold. "At midnight, Yahweh will pass through Egypt. Every firstborn son will die — from the son of Pharaoh on his throne to the son of the slave girl at the grain stone. But not one person in Israel will be hurt."

Yahweh tells Israel what to do. Each family picks a young lamb with no mark on it. At sunset, they kill it and catch the blood. They paint the blood on the wood around the door — top and both sides. Then they roast the meat, bake flat bread, and eat it all before morning. The blood keeps death out.
