Di judges still dey rule di land when hunger come Bethlehem. No rain dey fall. Di fields turn brown and di crops die inside di dust. One man wey dem call Elimelech take him wife Naomi and dem two sons con waka comot from di empty land. Dem go Moab, foreign country, dey look for food.

Years pass for Moab. Di two sons grow up tall con marry Moabite women — one name na Orpah, one name na Ruth. All of dem live together under one roof. Naomi watch as her sons build new lives for here, far from home, far from di land of dem pipo.

Den Elimelech die. Naomi bury her husband for foreign land. Years later, the two sons die too. Three women stand alone — Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth. Dem no get husbands. Dem no get sons. Nobody to care for dem. Nothing remain except demself and the dust of Moab.
